[1] Great Faith

Matthew 8:5-10

Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.” And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.” The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

  • Great faith was saying that Christ has authority over sickness and disease

    • He has authority over death, hell, and the grave

    • He has authority over demon spirits

    • He has authority over the winds and waves

    • He has authority over fear and doubts

    • He has authority over kings and presidents

  • Great faith can pray from a great distance

  • Faith is the victory that overcomes the world, and it is the currency of heaven

Mark  11:22

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.

  • When you have Great faith, your faith is aggressive and determined

Daniel 3:17

If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king.

  • The 3 Hebrew children had bold faith

  • Our confession is that we bow to Christ alone

[2] Natural faith

  • When you’re traveling on a plane, you have natural faith that the pilot knows the difference between Chicago and Cuba.

  • When you go to a surgeon, you have natural faith that he knows the difference between a tonsillectomy and a hysterectomy.

  • You have faith in your lawyer, your banker, your financier, and your doctor.

  • Have faith in God who never fails, who is Almighty

  • Faith is the victory that overcomes every obstacle that you face

[3] Mustard Seed Faith

Matthew 17:20

So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

  • This is pure faith

  • It doesn’t waver

  • Little is much when God is in it

  • God will do the impossible for you

[4] A Measure of Faith

Romans 12:3

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

  • God has given you a measure of faith

  • You pray the sinner’s prayer as an act of faith

Romans 10:17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  • The will of God and the word of God are in agreement because they are the same

  • How much do you read the Bible?  That determines the quality and measure of your faith

    • Don’t say that God is silent when your Bible is closed 6 days a week

[5] Faithless Faith

John 20:27

Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”

  • They have to see it to believe it

  • Ruled by the flesh

  • If you don’t go to God’s house, why do you think He’ll take you to His house?

[6] Visible Faith

Luke 5:20

When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”

  • God can see your faith in what you say and do, and where you go, what you think

  • Faith is the victory that overcomes the world

  • The just shall live by faith

[7] Little Faith

Matthew 6:28 - 30

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

  • Little faith can only accomplish little things

  • It is always worried about things

  • If the sparrow in the field knows that God will provide for him, why don’t we believe that we are as important to God as that sparrow?

Daniel 9:20-23

Now while I was speaking, praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God for the holy mountain of my God, yes, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, reached me about the time of the evening offering. And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, “O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision:

  • This prayer showed that God had complete control over Daniel’s life

  • (vs. 21) Daniel started praying, the angel came to him

  • God can send his angels instantaneously to answer our prayers

Christ’s Faith Seminar

Matthew 6:25-34 --

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Stop worrying

  • (vs. 27) Stop worrying about the quality of your life

  • (vs., 28) Stop worrying about your clothes

  • (vs. 31) Stop worrying about food and drink

  • Don’t worry about tomorrow because God is your Father and your Provider

  • You may not see Him, but He is there. He is your Hightower, shield, and buckler

  • God is good all the time

  • Have faith in God because He is the God that never fails

  • Worry makes cowards out of aggressive men

    • Worry robs your body of rest

    • Worry sends you out shaky

    • Worry is the mother of cancer, heart disease, and blood pressure, and ulcers

      • It’s not what you’re eating that matters, but what’s eating you

John 14:1

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.

  • God has already solved the problems that we are about to go through

  • Worry is not just a sign of little faith.  It is a sin

Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

  • Death is just a shadow. We do not need to fear a shadow.

  • The shadow of a lion cannot harm you. The shadow of a snake cannot bite you. The shadow of a sword cannot cut you.

Psalm 27:1

The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?

  • When you breathe your last breath here, you breathe your first in heaven. Why should we fear death when we get to enjoy heaven?

John 11:25, 26

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

Revelation 1:18

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

  • Don’t fear sickness for He is the Great Physician.

  • Don’t fear poverty for it is the Lord that gives you the power to get wealth.

  • Don’t fear other people, for I will make your enemies be at peace with you

Proverbs 16:7

When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

  • Worry is trust in the unpleasant and knowing that disaster is coming. It is the belief in defeat and despair.

    • Worry drowns optimism, hope, and faith

    • Weak faith is evidenced by worry
